The first cool week of fall. You step out with your coffee and the air has a bite. By noon the sun will be out. A coat is too much for that. A sweater alone is not enough in the parking lot.

Imogen is the layer in between. A quilted vest with light padding that keeps your middle warm. No sleeves, so your arms are free to drive and carry. It zips up the front, with snaps over the zipper for windy days.

Sizes S to XL, in Black, Emerald, Burgundy, Sand, Camel and Slate Blue. It runs true to size, with room for a sweater. Order your usual. Zip it over whatever you already have on, and go.

Material: polyester shell, quilted in a wave pattern over a light polyester padding; the maker lists the fabric as polyester, so this is a padded vest, not down
Cut: relaxed and boxy, straight through the body; made to go over a sweater or a hoodie
Length: 26 inches (S) to 28.3 inches (XL) from the top of the collar to the hem; it lands at the hip, and the curved hem sits a little lower at the back
Collar: tall stand collar that closes with two snaps; wear it standing up around the neck or folded open
Sleeves: none; the armholes are cut roomy so a sweater sleeve passes through without bunching
Pockets and closure: two side-entry pockets; full-length front zipper with a snap placket over it, so you can zip it, snap it, or both
Care: wash cold on a gentle cycle or by hand, hang to dry out of the sun; no bleach, no iron, no tumble dry
Colours: Black, Emerald, Burgundy, Sand, Camel and Slate Blue

True to size, with a roomy, boxy cut that is made to go over a sweater. Take your usual size and it layers without pulling; only go one size down if you will mostly wear it over a thin top and want it closer to the body. Between sizes? Take the larger one. The bust and hem below are the vest all the way around, laid flat and doubled; a size S gives about seven inches of room over a 34-inch bust.
