The first frosty morning of the year. The dog still needs his walk. Then the store, then coffee with a friend. A heavy coat is too much for all that. A short vest leaves your legs cold at the door.

Odalys is a long puffer vest with a hood. Warm like a coat, but light, and your arms stay free. It falls to mid-calf, so your legs stay warm too. Snap buttons run down the front and close in a second.

Sizes S to 5XL, in Army Green, Black, Burnt Orange, White and Sky Blue. It runs true to size, so order your usual. Hood up, snaps closed, and on with your day.

Material: polyester shell with cotton padding inside, as the maker lists it; no down and no feathers
Cut: relaxed, straight cut that swings out a little at the hem; sleeveless with deep armholes, so it goes over a sweater
Length: about 41 inches from the shoulder in size M and 44 inches in 2XL, hood not included; it lands well below the knee, around mid-calf on most
Hood and collar: attached hood on a stand collar that closes up to the chin
Closure: snap buttons down the full front
Pockets: two side pockets at hip height
Hem: straight hem with a short slit on each side, so walking stays easy
Weight: about 1.6 pounds in size M
Care: wash cold on the gentle cycle or by hand, hang to dry; no tumble dry, no iron
