It is eight in the morning and already warm. The farmers market, then the garden, then lunch outside with a friend. The last thing you want is long pants sticking to your legs. And the shorts in your drawer dig in the minute you sit down.

Yolanda is the pair that ends that argument. The fabric is a washed cotton-linen blend. It is light, and it breathes. The waist is elastic all the way around, with one button at the front. It stretches when you sit, and nothing digs in.

Sizes S to 3XL, true to size. Between sizes? Take the larger one. Sixteen colors. Pull them on with a white tee and sandals, and you are the woman who is comfortable all day. And still looks put together.

Material: washed cotton-linen blend (the maker gives no percentages); soft, lightweight and breathable, with the slightly crinkled texture that linen blends have
Cut: loose and straight, with wide legs from a high waist; not clingy anywhere
Length: about 23 inches from the top of the waistband; the hem lands just above the knee
Waist: elastic all the way around, so it stretches to sit at your natural waist; one button at the front
Pockets: two slanted side pockets, deep enough for a phone
Care: machine wash cold on gentle, hang to dry; a warm iron smooths the crinkle if you prefer it flat

True to size: order your usual American size. The waistband is elastic all the way around, and the hip has about five inches of room over your own hip measurement, so the shorts skim instead of hold. Between sizes? Take the larger one; the elastic settles more comfortably. The numbers below are the shorts themselves, all the way around (not laid flat): the waist is the elastic at rest, unstretched, and the length runs from the top of the waistband to the hem.
